You are an inspiration. I learned a lot from your post. I will have TKR in a week. However, my second knee is the same as my first and I want to walk again..even maybe hike easily one day, so I will have to do this twice. I am 76 year old female. I also have back stenosis. I am not giving up. I need any encouragement here and hopefully along the way someone will benefit from my story. Best wishes to you.

All the best to you. I am female and I take supplements. Calcium (great for bone strengthening) Vit D, Zinc, Vit B, Vit A and E along with Potassium, and Alpha Lipoic Acid ( which is good for nerve repair)
Everyday I have a protein shake that I add collagen powder to.
Weight is very important as well. Every extra pound of body wgt puts 4 extra pounds on one’s knee. I didn’t think I was overweight but through exercise and only eating (whatever I want) between 8am and 10 pm I have lost 20 pounds and this has also helped tremendously.
You might feel like this whole thing is like having a full time job with all the attention it gets and I certainly felt this way but “eventually” it pays off.
So hang in there and “Keep on truckin” as we used to say!!
