Are you taking Reclast for osteoporosis?
Two years ago I was diagnosed with pretty bad osteoporosis because of the prednisone I was on for my autoimmune disease. I started taking Fosamax (a bisphosphonate) and had no problems. Today, the endocrinologist suggested that I switch to Reclast for 3 yearly infusions. Has anyone else taken this drug? What side effects have you had?
Thanks

Lucky you! I have had Tymlos, Evenity and now Reclast. The first one gave me a large kidney stone, the 2nd one gave no improvement- in fact my Dexa worsened! And Reclast has given me terrible leg muscle pains.
I have always suffered with leg cramps, but it happens if I wear a different shoe, or do to much during the day. I use Theraworks and it has helped me. I massage it into my legs and I do get relief and hardly suffer now. Cheers, Judy
My doc was going to start Reclast with a test dose with my Tymlos now finished. But my eGFR was 36, indicating stage 3 kidney failure, approaching stage 4. I don't think he can prescribe Reclast with that kidney value. I will redo after drinking more water: I believe I was dehydrated. But even hydrated I am stage 3. Anyone else?
Thank you. I will be anxious to hear your results with it.
Thanks! I'll check Theraworks out. I used voltaren, but it didn't help much.
Make sure it's not a kidney stone. Tymlos gave me one and I had never had problems like that before. I hope they are wrong. I thought Tymlos helped you!
My chart Rush says a score of 30-44 moderately to severely decreased. It doesn't say kidney failure. Kidney failure was a less than 15 score.
Sorry meant kidney disease. (My mother had kidney failure and I slipped, since it was still in my mind!)
Tymlos helped me tremendously.
This has nothing to do with kidney stones, or with Tymlos.
Had a terrible reaction to Reclast never again. Had to take prednisone for a week
@ljgraham166 your experience makes me nervous. I don't have any other choice of meds at this point. I am hoping that a "test dose" (1/4?) with lots of water and slow infusion is tolerable- if I can get my GFR up enough to make the doc comfortable about my kidneys.
Has anyone else done a partial dose? How about premedication?
Good evening @merle725, I don't think I have encountered a post from you since your arrival on Connect. I also cope with leg pains all the way down to my toes. It is interesting that this started with two toes on my right foot. Now it is similar to yours.
I am so sorry you have fallen. Have you ever considered PT for stability and freedom from falls? It is helping me and I am in my 4th month or so without crashing to the floor.
In your post, you mention that Tymlos gave you a kidney stone. How did you find out it was due to Tymlos? I was on Tymlos for two years and ended up with a kidney stone, a hospital visit, and quite a few questions. No one mentioned Tymlos.
Are you still on Tymlos?
May you have contentment and ease.
Chris
