I also am looking for a spot that fits my situation. Right now I am a sponge and want to know everything about TKR since I have my first TKR in a week. I am prepared for everyday things, like after care. but I really would like to read about good outcomes here. I am aware of many painful outcomes and infection, scar tissue & blood clots. What do you have to say to someone like me that is awakened in the night worrying?

I had double TKR in 2017 and my left leg is amazing! I couldn't walk before surgery and now the knee is like new. Good luck.

Good afternoon @maggiegirl1123, in one week you will have an opportunity to recover what I hope will be painless functioning for one of your knees. It will be good to have become a Connect member as you commence with your post-surgery program. However, let's talk about pre-surgery. Have you been doing some specific pre-surgery exercises to strengthen your leg and thigh in preparation for the TKR recovery? I have had 2 TKR's. For this last one, I took everything more seriously and accepted what is my responsibility to ensure a good recovery.

Are you having robotic surgery for greater surgeon accuracy? That is helpful. Will you be in the hospital overnight or going home the same day? Do you have a caregiver ready to help you at home? That is helpful #2. Will you be starting post-surgery PT right away? Another recommended part of your recovery plan that will be helpful.

Here's a statistical hint for you. On Connect, we receive a lot more posts about post-surgery problems than we do about post-surgery successes simply because the patients experiencing success don't need as much support. So....stay in touch and there will always be a mentor to provide assistance throughout your recovery. Good luck. I will be hoping for the very best for you. And I am not going any place so I will be right here.

May you be safe, protected, and free from inner and outer harm.
Chris

I am exactly where you are as far as losing sleep due to the worry of my upcoming TKR in 7 weeks. At times I regret opening the Connect to find negative results of the surgery. I feel somewhat prepared and I start my six week PT on Monday. I am 79 and up until recently due to knee bone on bone I have backed off on my hiking and related exercises. I also have RA and have been on Enbrel for 23 years. Two months ago I had Long Covid and am still suffering with fatigue. Hopefully the PT will help me rebuild my strength to have a successful surgery. I am normally a positive person so I want to believe Maggiegirl1123 will do just fine. Good luck and I will follow your success.
