Initial consultation at a Mayo Clinic
Would like to get my husband to Mayo/Rochester or Jacksonville for NP. Looking for input on how difficult it is to get an appointment on your own. I have heard they might not take you because they are so busy

They have helped a lot. I use them when falling asleep at night and place them on the tops of my feet where the skin is thinner, so that the lidocaine will absorb. They were prescribed by a podiatrist.
Good Luck with that! There must not be money in a cure for this or even trying. Why would the Medical establishment ignore something so prevalent? And you can throw big Pharma into the mix.
@davelobb12 - Good point and yes, this comes down to money. I find that peripheral neuropathy is an odd disease, in many cases, it is not noticeable enough to get the attention it needs. I think you answered your own question on why the medical community seems to be side stepping PN as a disease. Ed
I like to start off in a cooler shower then proceed to increase the temp in increments. Helps relax me to in addition to releasing pain.
Hope this helps!
Be sure to test the water with another part of your body before turning the water up really high!

I finally got into a Mayo Health System Clinic here in MN, after being turned down at Mayo Rochester . I was finally diagnosed with PN on April 7th of this year. It may be a long waiting process but don't give up!
Hope this helps!

I used to love long steamy hot showers and always felt so miserable afterward for hours, as I was still trying to learn how to manage my heat & cold extremes intolerance. I finally learned to take your type of shower, and making sure it wasn’t hot for long. I also found that taking my shower close to my Gabapentin dosage time helped, as for me, Gabapentin seems to take about an hour to kick in so helps me recover from the shower if I got it too hot.
