I had a foremenotomy years ago and suffered from extreme nerve pain following the surgery. It reduced over time but it was almost a year before I could walk without a cane due to ongoing pain. I know this is not what you want to hear but it is my experience. I’ve had injections, oblations, therapy etc but still have chronic back pain. The best relief has come from a Medtronic Stimulator installed surgically.

I'm having L5S1 forminotomy this coming Thursday. Did you have new pain after the surgery that you did not have before the surgery?

What pain did you have before the surgery that the forminotomy was suppose to fix?

Not quite same, but had lumbar TLIF a month ago. Sometimes debilitating nerve attacks (15 mins) in leg but now less frequent. Hit now if walk too much- third- half mile- or sleep on uncomfortable or bed, stand too long. PA says will continue easing but take a year+ to totally resolve, nerves slow to regenerate , Talk /email to your, surgeon or PA.. easy with mychart.
