Hand and fingers are swollen 4 months after total shoulder replacement

Posted by angela70 @angela70, Apr 14, 2023

I had total shoulder replacement on December 29, 2022, which turned into a frozen shoulder. In the meantime my hand has been in terrible pain where I am unable to use it barely. There’s no numbness and no tingling. It’s just a constant pain, with swelling and sometimes it feels cold and discolored is this normal after shoulder surgery and why is this happening. I also still have a lot of pain in my shoulder down my arm. The left hand without the orange rubber band.

My wife had the same issue after shoulder surgery, she was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain syndrome formally known as Reflex Sympathy Dystrophy. Get to a neurologist or pain management ASAP, she was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain syndrome formally known as Reflex Sympathy

Angela, do you have a three or four month follow up visit already scheduled with your surgeon? This is not normal. I would call your surgeon's office and if he can't see you soon, call your primary care physician. He should have suggestions or be able to do a referral to a specialist for you.
