What to do about thigh pain after hip replacement, anterior approach?

I used a tens unit for a while and continue do bed yoga to stretch. My pain began with a popping out. It keeps popping...feels like it will pop out. X-rays show all is well. I finally got a shot at the surgeon’s office. It helped calm my moody hip.

My thigh only hurts when I put weight on it, such as walking or standing..then the pain radiates to my lower left back. The pain subsides after a few minutes of sitting. The front and left side of my thigh is always numb and tingly. I'm damn tire of the whole thing!!!

I had anterior THR on left hip 5 weeks ago, all went well until the last 5 days, I experiencing tingling and burning deep sensation mostly at night or toward end of the day, as I read up this could be due to nerves repair itself, it hurt bad at time but icing does help some, incision leaked some clear fluid, I went in to see Doc. He prescribed keflex just to make sure but he said incision look fine, hopefully after 7 days all will be well. Now about nerves repair there is no telling how long will it take, this will be ours next discussion 7 days from now with my surgeon, another option for me is to see a neurologist for assessment, I will post up date after 7 days, thank you so much for sharing, this forum truly help .

You may have leg length discrepancy? It will contribute to yours back since yours back have to adjust to the differences each time standing or walking, I would see a PT or back to yours Orthopedic surgeon for consultation , hope this will help.

I am very sorry to hear, I am fresh out 5 weeks with anterior Left THR, experiencing tingling, burning deep sensation of pain at the site of joint replacement and outer thigh , sometime above the knee, been told it's nerves repair itself, I am worry after reading yours post, I will continue update, hopefully we can sort out this issue, 🙏

I've had right hip pain on a right hip arthroplasty done back in 2008. The orthopedic surgeons I've seen lately tell me the hip is perfect. I've had xray after xray plus MRIs; however, I know that one can not see soft tissue (muscle, tendon, or nerves) around the titanium replacement. They can not see around the stem. If my hip is perfect, why am I in pain?

I have had epiderals one after another telling me I should have no pain. It is difficult for me to even walk at times. I believe the orthopaedic surgeons I am seeing are protecting one another. Is it possible that I had severed nerves during the surgery. The pain I am experiencing has been continuous since the day of surgery which was 14 years ago. I've seen other surgeons; however, they all seem to have ties to my surgeon Vincent Cannestra.

Do you know the specific Brand and Model of both the Acetabular Cup and liner and the femur stem & ball?
Titanium is often used as the base, but other materials - metals, ceramic and polymer - are in/on some components. A few hip implants have been found to have unintentional adverse consequences like metal ions shedding. These do not necessarily show up on x-rays, and unexplained pain can long after surgery be a sign of a developing problem.
Maybe it's time to get the details and start investigating?

They never told me. As a matter of fact I tried to get serial numbers and brand names from the surgeon. He claims he couldn’t find my records.

Call the hospital where you had the surgery done and see if they have records with the serial number and brand name.

Ask your doctor for all of your records. Put your request in writing by letter or email. Require that he respond to your request by providing you with the records including serial number and brand name or a written statement that he has lost them. A documented request may provide you with the information you are seeking.
