I had a mastectomy about ten years ago, but still get pain where there no longer is a breast. Is that normal? Sometimes, there is sharp pain in the remaining breast. Really odd. Had mammogram last week and was told my breast is dense. What does that mean?

I think it's called ghost pain. I read before about someone who had either their arm or leg amputated and experienced pain in the limb that was no longer there. As far as I remember the person then took medication for that particular type of pain.

Maybe you need an ultrasound of the breast. I have dense breasts and ultrasounds were recommended for visualizing any abnormalities.
