It needs to be monitored because of the possibility of a infected Diverticuli rupturing and causing a serious infection of the colon. The Diverticuli can burst and leak bowel contents into the abdominal cavity if you have Diverticulitis.

anniegk: How do you know if it goes into the colon? I have been on Maralax
for years, it does not help that much. I did cologuard, did not come back good
so now I have to have a colonoscopy.
