Hi,

So my psychiatrist initially prescribed me risperidone. He said it was to treat the earworms the same way how some people hear voices as it works on what he said was the dopamine 5 receptor I think, however i didn't like the side effects. it made me tired and gave me impotence...
So i asked if he could switch me to abilify since it's a different antipsychotic...I'm not really sure how the medications work in regards to this.

I currently am i only diagnosed with anxiety and depression and i haven't noticed the abilify making my anxiety any worse. I'm on 10mg.

The earworms literally last from the several minutes before i wake up until i go to bed. Have been dealing with this for about half a year now everyday..

@divinewisdom28 I am familiar with the use of risperadone for treating an auditory hallucinations but not for an earworm. You wrote that there has not been an uptick in anxiety or depression. How long have you been taking Abilify? In my case I figured out that I get an earworm for music that I have been listening to or singing in choir when my anxiety symptoms are up. When I do get an earworm I distract myself with prayers that I sing to myself. I find that to be soothing.

Have you tried anything to help you through ear worms other than medication?
