I was diagnosed with anal cancer in September of 2022. It’s been a long road and I’m still not in the clear. I had 6 weeks of chemo (Xeloda) and radiation. I tolerated the chemo well, but the radiation was tough. The burns were so terribly painful. My tumor is all gone except for about an inch. I’m hoping in the next couple of months it will disappear completely. This squamous cell cancer in unrelenting. I keep reading stories about how it reappears. It’s difficult waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have been left to deal with fecal incontinence due to damage from the radiation. I can live with that as long as the cancer is gone.
I have just been diagnosed with this cancer. I had ureter cancer in 2021, on the PET scan in February an anorectal cancer showed up. It is through the muscles, with lymph node involvement. I start chemo radiotherapy tomorrow. I’m sorry you are dealing with this too. It is a very challenging road to be on.
