Red processed meat and things that affect CA 27-29 marker readings?
Without thinking, I had a pastrami sandwich for dinner and half for breakfast the day of my 27-29. That tumor marker went down from 188 to 33 in 7 months. The day after the test I got the results and it went up 9 points to 42. I've read fifteenth things about red mean and especially processed red meat affecting blood results. I'm stressed . Anyone ever hear of red meat and blood work? I had the test two hours after eating half a huge sandwich and about 22 hours after eating the other half for dinner. Thanks Janet

So, my oncologist doesn't run tumor markers on me and I'm fine with it. But I'll go looking. Doing my own research off medical papers is how I keep "in the know" regarding my care.
If you find anything can you PLEASE let me know. I've researched every way I can think of.
Did I miss something? I don't see your answer to mybquest
So, could the pastrami have driven up the tumor marker? I never eat red meat, ordered by mistake and then was starving.
This wasn't just red meat, it was highly processed red meat.
You got me with that reply. I had a vague recollection about this study. Having a litle background in scientific knowledge, I had to find out. You caught it. See this quote from Harvrd Medical School about the study: "Upon publication, a number of leading voices in nutrition science and policy took issue with the study’s methodology and claimed its authors, who have formed a group called NutriRECS, did not disclose ties with AgriLife Research, an arm of Texas A&M University that is partially funded by the beef industry." https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/whats-the-beef-with-red-meat
Good one. Thank you. It's a really big problem (you may have that cigarette now).
I don't think the one sandwich would have done it and there are some Drs that don't even look at this testing because of multiple reasons the numbers could be elevated. The problem lies when us patients look at these numbers as important because we don't understand the whole spectrum of all the different types of factors the Drs use to determine our path of recovery.
The almighty dollar wins again.
Thanks for checking it out
What treatment were you on for your tumor marker to go down. Mine is currently 188 up from 108 in just a month.
Just gotvky new results yesterday. Back down to 38 which was a huge relief. What meds are you on? Have you considered diet, c b d/thc, etc. No refined sugar or processed foods and definitely no red meat!
