Denosumab (PROLIA) was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2010 to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women with an increased risk of fractures. WOW! I have had some strange feelings since I have been on Prolia but I attributed them to my spinal surgery. I just had a shot in January and am not due again for 7 months but after reading what you sent me, I will discuss this with my Endocrinologist and probably will stop taking it. But what else can I do? My bone density test is “almost” normal and I have not broken any bones and I am terrified of breaking another bone.

I have been doing some research since I read your note and apparently there could be a problem with too much calcium from the Prolia. So, I am meeting with my Endocrinologist next week and I will ask him to call in an order for a calcium test for me and if it is over 9, I could have a non/malignant tumor on my thyroid. Thank you so very much for letting me know that Prolia may have caused this. I will let you know what happens.
