Elevated BP Linked to Concussion

Posted by sunwamusi @sunwamusi, Apr 2, 2023

Hello, All!
I recently took a horrible fall. I was out with my sister and was goofing around, when I went flying into the air landing on the pavement. I hit the ground primarily on my left side. I did hit my cheekbone, however, my ribs got the worst of it. Over the next few days, I felt very off which continued to worsen. My blood pressure, which to my knowledge has always been within normal range, became extremely elevated. Highest reading was 197/120. This absolutely freaked me out! I was immediately prescribed BP lowering meds. Asking if anyone has experienced a spike in their BP as the result of a concussion. Thanks, and take care!

Do you still have issues, or did your BP return to normal?

Still having issues. I’m 10 days out from the concussion. Even on BP meds which the provider prescribed post-concussion, my pressure is still elevated.
