In need of treatment, but can it be in Wisconsin

They no longer treat pain because anyone who suffers with pain are only drug addicts. Other UW doctors who tried to refer their patient to the clinic were told the pain clinic no longer treats pain. Because of the UW pain clinic stopping treating patients and terminating their care I have lost a relative and friends to suicide because they could no longer take the suffering. Thanks to being on disability I can't afford to pay to stay in the hotel and all the other cost for the 7 to 10 days of testing. How the UW pain clinic now treats people should be illegal. Especially Dr. R and Dr. L have treated me. I have never tried drugs, tobacco, never abused medication and I do not drink. If the Wisconsin locations can help because they are less than 40 minutes away. I am 60 yrs old and have been suffering since age 7 which is the first time I was hit by a car. I have been hit 3 separate times (age 7, 12 and 22). 1st time I was crossing the street with a crossing guard, 2nd on bicycle and driver ran stop sign, and last time on bicycle on sidewalk and was hit from behind and driver kept going and left me for dead.

Hey Todd, All of us here suffer from one thing or another have empathy for one another and have vented here. I hear you are suffering and wish you find help any way you can find it. What doesn't help us is blaming others even if they are wrong. Moving past the injury and those who don't understand is key to finding relief. I've heard the "you may have been in less pain if you died" before statement in a clinic I attended too, I too admit these are words that should not be said. However we need to look at the fact they are not denying your pain, thus acknowledging it! I have had many people tell me I should not be in this amount of pain and should be better by now. It is often a lifetime of pain. Pain management is not perfect, nor are anyone else, have forgiveness for those who lack understanding. You don't need to scream I feel i'm dying here, we hear you. But if it helps scream louder. If there is an folks that have understanding, it' s the ones in this connect. Kind regards

@toddgalbrecht,

Todd, I saw one of your post that ended you are too strong willed for suicide. That is very good to hear, you are in fact strong, stronger than you know. Still the fact that you even mentioned it may be a sign you need help with depression for the pain, lost friends, and family. These losses are real and can trigger your pain. Sounds like the pain clinic had to stop giving out medications for legal issue. The good news is that many medications can work for a couple years that are not addicting as opioids and may treat for more than one condition. Cymbalta can be prescribed by a psychiatrist for depression and anxiety and have helped me with nerve pain from ribs as well. I was on it for over 6 years, eventually got off it. Drugs like that they may also use along with pain medication. Stay strong, get the help you deserve.
