Red processed meat and things that affect CA 27-29 marker readings?
Without thinking, I had a pastrami sandwich for dinner and half for breakfast the day of my 27-29. That tumor marker went down from 188 to 33 in 7 months. The day after the test I got the results and it went up 9 points to 42. I've read fifteenth things about red mean and especially processed red meat affecting blood results. I'm stressed . Anyone ever hear of red meat and blood work? I had the test two hours after eating half a huge sandwich and about 22 hours after eating the other half for dinner. Thanks Janet

Hope it helps.
I haven't touched red meat since my breast cancer dx 7 months ago. For some crazy reason, not thinking, I ate a pastrami sandwich for breakfast and then had blood work two hours later. My 27-29 went up 9 points. It has always been accurate with my pet scan results. Can processed red meat alter results? I go back for my monthly appt next week and I'm so scared to see the results on the portal. I originally started at 188 and in six mo the was down to 33, then last month 42. Cancer is making me into a wreck.
Tumor markers seem to up with anything having to do with inflammation.
My oncologist mentioned that the foods we eat, alcohol, exercise can affect the numbers, even up to a week before. 🤷🏻♀️♥️
Thanks. I hope that's what caused it!
Oh my goodness!!! thank you SO much. Right now juggling 3 different health things resulting from all the treatments I had....and diet is key!!! Will take some good time looking at this.
I wonder who funded the study. Especially red processed meat.
@marciapell thank you for posting the article!I checked it out and it looks great!
Except I can't find anything on food and tumor markers. Can you. Am I missing it?
You’re welcome! I think it is so helpful and easy to understand, and realistic.
