Hello, my name is Angel I’m 31 year old mother of three young children 5,3, and 5months, I go in for a MRI tomorrow to get a better look at liver lesions that where described as ill defined bulls eyes and to see if there’s any thing else in my abdomen. I had an Ultrasound bc I thought I was having gallbladder issues but my gallbladder kidney and for the most part pancreas all looked good my liver was healthy except of the lesions My blood work came back mostly normal except my LDH levels where high I’m scared for what the MRI is gonna show, I’m having horrible anxiety and I fear how will I be a mother if I’m sick and the effects it will have in my children and I don’t want to die. I need HOPE!! PLEASE some give me hope

First of all, I learned through my cancer experience to wait for proof, don't assume. Second, I was diagnosed with Stage IV (what used to be called End Stage) lung cancer two-and-a-half years ago and last October (on the two year anniversary of my diagnosis) I ran and finished the Chicago Marathon. Diagnosis and treatment of cancer has come a very, very long way in the past five years so don't buy into the old narrative of cancer diagnosis equals death. Whatever this is, YOU will be the hope. It's your turn to show power and strength in a challenge. People will see how you handle this situation (whatever it is) and want to be like Angel.

Angel, What did your scan show? As an 11 year cancer patient, I believe Hope is one of the most important things you can have. Worry constantly tries to suppress that Hope, but you have to be strong and find the positive outlook when you are feeling overwhelmed. While a cancer diagnosis does take over your life for a while, it can also just be the beginning of a new version of living with a chronic disease. It makes you learn to live in the moment and appreciate every day with your family. You can and will develop a support system of family and friends and medical personnel who will get you through whatever you are facing. My head and neck cancer began as Stage III but 2 years later was Stage IV with metastasis to my lung. Surgeries and Immunotherapy, diet changes and supplements have worked to control my disease that was a 30% five year survival estimate. I recommend a couple of books: Radical Remissions by Kelly Turner and Radical Hope by the same author. I felt empowered and hopeful after reading these. The Rebel's Apothecary by Jenny Sansouci is also very helpful. Good luck on this journey and stay strong.

Angel, Although I know you must be busier than you have ever been, please update us on how you are doing. As your health situation becomes clearer, like so many anxious people before you, you will find the strength to establish your priorities and to accomplish them. Your beautiful children will inspire you. (Remember how each pregnancy worried you ?) And after all that worry, here are three children who are witnesses to your strength. Whatever it takes to lessen your anxiety, you will find a way. I hope you will share your way with the rest of us!

Very good advice.

I am on the Mayo Clinic Diet and finding it to work well for me. It requires a lot of chopping so there is a time commitment but the meals are quite good.
