Does the Mayo Clinic do evaluations for Parkinson’s patients?
My son has Parkinson’s and from so much that I’ve read, I think he’s on too many meds. He’s also gotten worse ever since his wife started dating other men and now she wants a divorce. They have 5 children together. It’s been heartbreaking. My husband and I would like to bring him to the Mayo Clinic simply for an evaluation. We want the best for him. The neurologist he sees in the town where he now lives alone, which is 3 hours away from us, does not seem to care. Does anyone know if the Mayo Clinic would evaluate him perhaps by doing their own tests? I’m at my wits end. Any info would be so appreciated . Thank you.
Be blessed,
Joanne

I have no experience, but did little research.
Is your son under 55? Mayo has an Early-Onset Parkinson's Disease Clinic at Mayo's campus in Arizona or Minnesota .

I also suggest that your son might want to talk to a therapist. He is going through a lot, and talking to a professional will help.
Laurie
Thank you, Laurie, for responding. My son is now 48. He was diagnosed over 6 years ago. You’re right, he is going through a lot. Unfortunately, he doesn’t usually want to cooperate with us. We wanted to take him to the Mayo Clinic but he said he would only go if it was just him & his older brother. I’m fine with that but they’re still not making any plans. I’ve done so much researching that I think I now need to step back. My husband & I will still take the drive to be there for his doctor’s appointments. We also visit for several days but barely see him because he’s always running around dropping off or picking up his 5 kids. He’s an unbelievable dad. The kids mean more to him than anything. I think he did go to therapy at one time but gave it up. His worse symptom is pain. That’s why I think he needs to see another neurologist. As his mom, I can only do so much. I think my new job is to wait until he wants my help. A couple of times a week we talk on the phone with him and we all pray together. I’ll never stop doing that. Thank you again for your input. I appreciate it very much. God bless you.
I am so sorry to hear about your son's situation. The Mayo Clinic may be able to help - you can contact them directly to discuss his case and see if they can offer any guidance. Best of luck to you and your family.
Thank you from my heart. Any input means the world to me. God bless you. 🙏🏼
