My name is Barbara, I am a double caregiver. My husband has frontal temporal dementia, plus prostate cancer. You cannot reason with him any more than you could an alcoholic. we started our first radiation treatment today and the therapist keeps telling me all this stuff I should do. When I told my husband he could not have dr pepper because of the carbonation that would accumulate in the colon, he got mad. my first husband was an alcoholic and I learned big time he would go around me to get what he wanted. John wrote on a piece of paper that his name was mud, just ask his wife and she would tell you. I told him he had prostate cancer and it did not care what his name was. He calmed down later and was cooperative for the treatment. I was a basket case when we got home. while I have been trying to avoid foods that cause gas, now I needed to give him a laxative before tomorrow. I collapsed in the recliner for two hours.
