Breast Cancer Index: What's your experience?

Has anyone done this test to determine if staying on aromatase inhibitors beyond 5 years is advised for you? https://www.breastcancerindex.com/
Did your insurance cover it? What was the recommendation? Thx

Just ignore that! I got way too involved in looking at my specimen blocks because my tumor was part ductal, part lobular, part HER2+, part HER2- and I had contradictory tests and wanted the worst part of the tumor to be tested. I don't even remember how I knew anything about the blocks! For BCI I had the same block sent that had gone to the Oncotype for consistency. Honestly not necessary!

I had two tumors, I guess I would send the one with higher ONCOTYPE number. Also, Going to sign on to Signatera ( “blood biopsy” concept to detect trace DNA that matches tissue DNA ) interesting new development.

Has anyone had an experience with the breast cancer index test? It provides information to help women diagnosed with early stage, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and their oncologist make a personalized decision about extending anti-estrogen therapy beyond 5 years. They use a piece of your tumor for the testing. My oncologist is suggesting I live in hell for another 5 years, based on no new types of testing. Has anyone had this test? What do you all think of this test?

The Breast Cancer Index (BCI) test is a genomic test that can help predict the likelihood of recurrence of estrogen receptor (ER)-positive, lymph node-negative breast cancer. The test analyzes the expression of genes associated with cancer growth and proliferation, as well as the activity of ER signaling.

Did Signatera test. Got the result back yesterday which was negative . This is good news. I encourage people to look into this test if interested in knowing if you may have a recurrence in the future.

Good news indeed! 🌸

Having my blood draw on Friday. Any mitigation strategy I can apply going forward is likely helpful.

Still have not been able to learn more about the cost but I understand it’s possible Medicare will pay for it; it’s possibly the only saving Grace to ones 65th birthday… and, of course, my grandchildren!
