Thank you, We just had a visit with the surgeon at Univ Of Penn. We never used any fiber source except for a probiotic gummy which don't know if helped or not. Just started using bene fiber now and going to try Allign probiotic. Will let you know of results or any help. We are going to get an appointment with a GI medical Dr. to help with the course of what to do going forward. thank you

I am trying to become a part of this group for support and information dealing with my colonic interposition....of course I still have the possibility of cancer to deal with since it metastasized to my lymph nodes...can someone respond so I can know that I've successfully made it to group discussions? Hi, My husband had his 10 months ago. diarrhea , one problem trying diet and fiber supplements, with some help. weight is big problem, loss of >50 lbs and cannot gain , 6ft 1 and 139 lbs....Atrial fib. due to reason for procedure being done due to necrosis and gangrene from hiatal hernia surgery/ and loss of esophagus and most of stomach. 47 years ago!!!1 did not think they did that then. Did diarrhea go away after a time and what dietary plan helped? thank you, Beverly

Diarrhea continues and is something that one needs to live around. Food is very trial and error but proteins are best: steak chicken fish lobster. Raw vegetables are very difficult

After 6 years the diarrhea never went away for more than a day or so, and then only rarely. Probiotics seem to help and antibiotics seem to make things worse. The only thing that works for me is Percocet (oxycodone and acetymenophen=Tylenol), an average of 3.3 a day. I've been taking it at that dose almost since the operation. The diarrhea continues but the abdominal pain goes away, probably more because of decreased intestinal mobility than the pain-killer analgesic effect, but who knows? Every case seems to be different. Percocet is a restricted narcotic, so you need a prescription that may be hard to get. It's also expensive thanks to big pharma. Obabacare and Medicare might help, depending on your situation. Yeah 47 yrs ago. I was told I was the 2nd person in the U.S. to have it done.it was started in around 1917 in Europe.wait loss was not a problem for me. They did have concerns I would grow because of lack of nutrients. I am 6th 195 lbs. The diarrhea is still an issue but I am used to it now. There is diarrhea because the colon extracts fluid from the stool. Sence in a CI the colon is moved it can't do one of its primary functions.
