Pregabalin & Gabapentin Not Working.
Okay I've had neuropathy for over 3 years now and neither of these medications are working. I see a doctor in a few weeks to see about a stimulator? I heard they only work half the time. Is this true or a myth? Cause it would be a huge headache with no resolution. Thanks for your time and assistance.

Any doctor can order you a prescription for a compounded cream. First find a drug store that does compounding. Then go to your doctor with one or two suggestions for the cream that you want compounded. For example, 5% gabapentin, 5% lidocaine,( 5% diclofenac or KET5) and TET5%. A doctor who knows you and knows about your foot pain or joint pain should be willing to order a prescription for you at the compounding drug store. Take the name and phone number of the drug store with you. No guarantees, but this compound works the best for me.
Different things work for different people. Depends on if you k ow why kind of neuropathy you have? Small or large fiber? Diabetic? And again different things work for different people some people need Mac dose gabapentin 900mg three times a day some can use 100mg three times a day or lyrica or cymbalta. Or CBD oils, lotions, creams, also some being more active and walking helps the symptoms.
Also over the counter alpha lipoic acid 600mg daily and magnesium help with neuropathy
I am taking magnesium glycinate, vitamin B12 and alpha lipoid acid which are helping me sleep. Also, trying to not sit for too long watching tv at night before bed-standing and walking during commercials.
You don't need to get a special prescription cream. Any Walmart or drug store has 4% lidocaine cream for about $6 a bottle, which lasts me months. The lidocaine helps. I have tried everything. All of those pills; cymbalta, lyrica, gabapentin, marajuna, etc. give me about 10% relief but all have side effects, usually slight diziness. To me, it is not worth the risk of consuming chemicals for years. I get just as much relief with nutricetils; fish oil 1 gram, alpha lipoic acid 600mg, taurine 1 gram. Lately I have been trying 40 mg PQQ with 200 mg ubiquinol at night. No opinion on that yet.
I was on a lidocaine 5% cream when my neuropathy was in my toes, along with Gabapentin. Then the neuropathy spread to the whole foot so made no sense to use a tube or more a night on each foot. The pain is only there for about 45 minutes when I go to bed, so I'm used to it now so stimulator is out of the question. But I do see a doctor next month for a follow up. I have very mild symptoms during the day. An occasional flare up, but nothing I can't deal with.
