They are most likely referring to Steven’s Johnson Syndrome. It's a potentially deadly rash and approximately 10% who get it dont survive.
The good news is that it's rare. It affects less than 1% of people taking Lamictal.
I have taken numerous seizure medications known to cause it without any rash. Normally it appears in the first couple months of use.
People of Asian descent and to a lesser degree blacks are at an increased risk of getting it.
Tylenol Advil and other anti-inflammatories and penicillin along with other antibiotics, also have the potential to cause it.
