Here is an article from Mayo Clinic discussing advances in endocrinology regarding osteoporosis and predicting risk of fracture, ie, high-resolution peripheral quantitative computerized tomography (HRpQCT) imaging and trabecular bone score (TBS).

You could google Echolight. Others have posted here on REMS. Anything that doesn't increase the radiation load might reduce MD's hesitancy to order BMD scans--the lack of which hampers research--is a great thing!
