Osteoporosis and Forteo (teriparatide): What to hear experiences
Wanting to hear people’s experience with using Forteo generally , good and bad. Concerned about having to travel and keeping it at the 36-46F range. Also would like to hear from those that used it 15-20 years ago and if any medical issues have come about that are related to Forteo.

All family makes a wonderful device that keeps forteo between 36-46. They sell a plug in device, a gel pack with a different top for storage without access to electricity, as well as a battery pack. You could be safe with your forteo for as many days as you need to be. Worked perfectly for my two week trip to Cozumel.
My Rheumatologist wrote a request to Medicare . Surgical menopause at 26 is the likely reason for my osteoporosis. My monthly co-pay is $1000. Terrible, I know. We couldn’t do if my husband wasn’t still working. Lily Cares has a program to help pay for their very expensive drug, I didn’t qualify because my husband’s salary. I think you can get an application off the Lily website. There are also some changes coming to Medicare to limit huge copays. I’m starting my second month and as of now I’m pleased with how it is going.
I’m just looking at Amazon. Can you give me more details on the one you have? Thank you so much!
Allfamily insulin cooler. $199.99. The first one pictured. Buy the battery pack up from Allfamily. Maybe call Allfamily, look up phone number on line, it is in Florida, and their price may be the same.
Thanks so much for this information!
Good luck with your treatment. Please keep us informed.
@stephhill about the cost of Tymlos: for those of us on Medicare, the best option is to call Together with Tymlos and talk to a representative. They can direct you to the Radius Assist financial assistance program. I got my Tymlos for free. The income guidelines are relatively generous.
barbjo, who is the Medicare Part D insurance company and plan to you have? e.g., Aetna Silverscript Choice PDP, etc.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Thanks. That was helpful.
A bone specialist has recommended that I start Forteo (teraparatide )treatment because I’ve had 6 stress fractures in 2 years all occurring in my lower legs. I also have a diagnosis of osteopenia & osteoporosis. My overall health is good however I was diagnosed 4 years ago with Thrombocytosis ( too many platelets) . I’m 71, very active and until the stress fractures started I was very fit. Exercising is a challenge now as I am non weight bearing on my R leg while a navicular fracture is healing. Thanks for any help.
