Iron Depletion in Blood related to COVID?

I, too, have had an iron issue (low ferritin as well) under the same circumstances: one Moderna shot, followed by Covid. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence out there regarding low iron post-vaccination, even when there has been no Covid, so it's difficult to say which is the culprit. In my case (a few months later), my hair was breaking off 1-2" from my scalp, and my nails became soft, which sent me to the doctor. With 350-mg of Ferrous Sulphate daily for more than one year, my levels were brought back into the "normal" zone but still not where I'd like them to be. My suggestion is to have your blood checked for iron and ferritin levels; you, too, may need to take iron.

They claim you are warned not to take the moderna shot if you have low ferritin and I was never warned in 2020.My iron is down to 18 ug/dl and % saturation is 5%.Ferritin is 17ng/ml.Total iron binding is 382 ug/dl?? My WBC is 6.4 k/uL and RBC 3.45 M/uL .Hemoglobin 8.6 g/dL.Hematocrit 30.5%.MCV 88.4 fL.MCH 24.9 pg.MCHC is 28.2 g/dL.RDW 16.9%.Abs Eosinophils was 0.6K/uL. I will see the hematologist on March 28th for a discussion of the above numbers from Memphis AEL blood lab. I think my ferritin went down after 2020 for I have had blood test as often as medicare approves the tests. Thanks for your valuable input.
