Bon don’t worry about those yellow balls — they are usually called plugs and as Sue said above that’s a GOOD sign you are clearing them, and means your airway clearance is working.
It’s good to keep tract of the amount of mucus and plugs, so you know if there is a big change (good or bad) happening in your lungs.
I’ve done airway clearance now for four years, and ususally clear 1/8 cup mucus and about 9-10 of those small yellow plugs.

Thanks so much for the info

I would be jumping up for joy if all i produced were tiny yellow balls! Cate's advice is good. With a true exacerbation you will feel sick or unwell, lose appetite etc.

Thank you for your comments regarding the yellow balls. I wa just diagnosed with BE June 30th thy is year. Started with 7% sodium solution from pulmanologist specializing in BE and NTM. Haven't got the sputum sample results yet, other than the lower respiratory results which were pretty quick said no bad bacteria. So that was good at least so far.
I'm on day 4 of vacation. Brought everything to do airway clearings and sanitize setup.
Been just getting clear thinned mucous mostly with a couple small balls. Tonight's was about 3 small balls and one bigger (about the size of a small eraser head). And it was a light yellow.
Your comments made me feel better because I was a little worried seeing that.
