I asked my doctor about niacinamide in addition to the atorvastatin I was taking - his answer was "absolutely not."
His answer may be influenced by my lack of side effects on atorvastatin and the rather remarkable job of lowering LDL (and relationship to lower triglycerides).
@kolady1, I take Niacin (B3) as part of my neuropathy supplements and I think it helps my cholesterol numbers a little but I think you should discuss it with your doctor first. Here's some information from Mayo Clinic.
"What impact does niacin have on cholesterol? Niacin can lower triglycerides by 25% and raise HDL cholesterol by more than 30%. Triglyceride levels over 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) or 1.7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L) have been associated with a higher risk of heart disease."
