I noticed that when the phlebotomy tech drew my blood she wiped an alcohol swab on my arm. I asked my doctor to enroll me in random urine test. I know when I fail the PeTh test when I get blood drawn because the tech doesn't know how to draw the blood. I think next time I get the test Im going to ask for non alcohol swab. I went a whole month without drinking I should have passed the test but they measured 30ng. Its frustrating.

The alcohol from the swab does not go into your blood. The tiny amount of fluid from the swab they may be left on your arm evaporates very quickly. There is a GI illness I have heard of that causes the body to breakdown foods and this makes alcohol. I believe it is an endocrine disorder called Auto-Brewery Syndrome or gut fermentation syndrome but it is rare. Hope this helps you out. My one question is do both your urine and blood alcohol level support the findings?
