Possible MALS and/or SMAS

Posted by sandyskw13 @sandyskw13, Feb 28, 2023

Just wondered if the Mayo clinic does Tele or virtual consults if you sent in your CT scan, and what the fee is. My daughter 20 has all the symptoms of MALS, its been going on for 16 months, but we're in Canada and having a hard time getting experienced people, doctors , and testing. We're wanting a second opinion on scans and next steps in getting tests and 2nd opinion on her scan. We're hoping it will help us advocate for her here. If anyone else knows other places that could do such a consult, it would be great. Unfortunately because of the expense for the testing, and if needed, surgery, it's not an option to come to the US, for treatment if needed.

I had mals surgery three years ago. I sent my ct scan to Dr. Richard Hsu in STAMFORD, ct. he will review them and let you know if his criteria for mals is positive. You can also go on Facebook and there’s a group Mals Awareness that has loads of information. I believe there are people from Canada on it.

Hi @sandyskw13,
Mayo Clinic welcomes both new and existing patients for virtual and in-person care, including elective surgeries, in adherence with federal and state executive orders and guidance. Video and phone visits can be great options for appointments before, after or in place of face-to-face care. Appointment coordinators will recommend a virtual visit if it best fits your individual needs. Here is more information and how to get started with submitting an appointment request: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
