Shingles and Postherpetic Neuralgia and Pain
Has anyone suffered from LONG lasting neuropathic pain as a result of Shingles, and what treatment do you use for the pain? My daughter had shingles at 21, a spinal cord stimulator inserted and removed, many trigger point injections, all of which may have contributed to the thoracic pain she has. She is now 34, and teaches yoga, but is still on a compound prescribed by a pain management Dr. in NYC what is basically Oxy. I am paying for this, since neither she nor her husband can afford it at around $500 a month. She could not find a physician in Fl. I know who would prescribe this medication after 10 years, thus the use of an out of state physician. I do not want to see her suffer, nor can I discuss much with her since we barely speak, but this expense, coupled with paying for asthma inhalers that are expensive is becoming more and more of a strain. Any thoughts for alternatives are appreciated.

1 ReactionI have tried cold laser therapy. It seemed to be working, but I was still having outbreaks and the PHN was right around the corner. I tried another session and no go. Thinking about going back. You should probably call Chiropractor's in your area. The machine is expensive and my insurance does not cover it.

It seems I didn't read all the threads. Your writing about the patches? I tried them and unfortunately it was a no go. Everyone is different. What works for one may not work for the other.
I'm wearing them. They work great for me and three friends.
Is your condition nerve related?
I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet that I got from chemo. I had an awful feeling of deadness and pain in my feet. I also had poor balance. The patch made me around 30 % better. I can make one last for around 60 hours, not 24 ,as stated on their site. I put it on my thigh and sometimes put a large band aid over it the last day to make it adhere better and last longer. I no longer need to use a TENS unit on my feet which only helped a little. As I said it helped three friends with nerve damage in their 70's and 80's. It's worth a try. If it doesn't help you in the first 30 days they give you your money back. It started working right away for me. I only preach about this because I hated how bad my feet felt and if it can help anyone, give it a try

I completely agree with you. I have done many things that were not planned for in my budget, but I will do just about anything for pain relief. I have neuralgia from the shingles. I haven't given up, but there is not much left that I can try. I am so glad you have found something that helps. It's a miracle.
