I am a 91 year-old woman (although look 20 years younger and still active) who fell and tore all the muscles in the rotator cuff. One surgeon recommended total shoulder replacement and one surgery with PT. Surgery is out for me so am beginning the PT and OT, with stretching and then strengthening. What is the prognosis? Any one out there who has had a similar experience? @makalajohnson

Hi Val, I am 65 and I too tore my rotator cuff 3 times. After first surgery I received PT and after 8 months I tore again, had 2nd surgery and tore it a third time, when I deceided not to go thru surgery again. My osteoporosis is at a high level and the sutures and screws would pull away from the bone. After 2 yrs of home exercises, I now can blow dry my hair, Life is Good !!. Val, keep up with the PT, you don't want your shoulder to lock up.Getting old is NOT for sissies !!!!!
