← Return to Continued Post-Nasal Drip and Constant Mucus in Throat

I've read through the whole thread, and my situation exactly matches several already posted.
I had Omicron in Sept 22. I was treated with ivermectin, and it actually worked quite well, I thought. The case was fairly mild anyway, like a typical cold but with a more severe sore throat. My vax status was the two main doses plus a booster, all in 2021.

Ever since the Covid, I've had a lot of post nasal drip and mucus in the throat. I have a lot of seasonal allergies so I figured it was just allergies. Then after being outdoors for most of the day on a cold December day, I came down with what I assumed was a cold. It started with massive post nasal drip or drainage, which gave me a harsh sore throat. I treated it as a cold, and it took about 4 weeks to resolve. I had a lot of sinus congestion for an additional 4 weeks or so.

I went to Florida for a week's vacation in February. We stayed in a musty condo but I felt better than I had in Texas. (Humidity helping, or just different allergens?) Upon return home I had the same crap again. And on the 20th of February, after being outside for hours on a warm, very high pollen day, I had the same "cold" show up again in the same way. Tremendous drainage, very sore throat, etc. The post nasal drip had been happening all along, but this day it went into overdrive. Now I am 7 days into this event, with very little progress. Also, my tinnitus is a bit worse than normal.

I take antihistamines, Flonase, and do a nasal rinse twice a day. Every evening it gets real bad. Based on something posted earlier, I am going to try to avoid anything at supper that would have sugar. If it helps I will report back. Also, I have 9 days worth of ivermectin left over, and I am going to try it. It is extremely safe, so it's worth a try. It sure seemed to help when I took it for Covid.

It's getting close to bedtime and I feel like I'm drowning in this crap. It sounds like it is not worth making a doctor appointment, but I probably should.

Sounds kinda like me but I’m wondering - does it get worse following a meal? As in mucous production in throat and nasal passages, head congestion, extreme dryness and total misery? If so I’ll share what I’ve done.

I feel for you, I suffer from the exact same. In the evening it's worse than during the day, but overall it impacts my daily life big time. I'm seeing an ENT later this month. Had one visit already, but the guy didn't care and told me not to focus on it too much... Impossible haha. And the weird thing, only my left side seems to be involved, like it's coming from my left nostril only. My GP noticed that my left upper turbinate is very swollen, right is fine. So weird. Tried several nasal sprays such as Dymista and Avamys but non of them worked, they only gave me dry nose and bloody nose. Allergies are ruled out via blood test, but I'm gonna ask for a skin prick test as well just to be 100% sure (don't think it's allergies because I'm suffering 13 months already and right nostril is fine). Other weird thing is the PND started thin and watery and after a few months changed to thick and sticky. Which is actually less uncomfortable, but ok. I'm also a member of a FB group about rhinitis and PND, and there are treatments such as Rhinaer and Clarifix where they freeze a nerve to stop the PND. But lots of reviews from people that didn't benefit from that. My last resort is going to be posterior nasal nerve neurectomy where they basically disable the nasal nerve that's responsible for mucus production. But since I'm in the Netherlands and that procedure is only done in US and Thailand if I'm not mistaken, I don't know if it's really an option. Long story, sorry, but you're not suffering alone and I'll update if my ENT visit is succesfull later this month.

My 7yo is suffering for last 3 years of covid related PND. did ivermectin fix PND? want to give it a try if downside is none
