NSCLC after radiation and chemo

Posted by abingham84 @abingham84, Feb 23, 2023

After radiation and chemo my moms tumor went away in her lymph nodes and her main lung mass went away as well, they had a spot remaining at the bottom of her lung they thought was possibly scar tissue but after a PET scan they think it might be remaining cancer in the lung. She is on her 3rd treatment of Keytruda and one Dr suggest a biopsy the other suggested we wait for another PET scan in 3 months to see if the immune therapy is working but said if not working their is not much more they can do treatment wise accept chemo that is more intense and not as effective. Why would radiation work on all but 1 spot and should I seek a 2nd opinion for her?

abingham84- What a great question for all scientists to answer! Tumors can be made up of different things or all the same things. I think that not all machines or chemicals are the same and that it's very difficult to be perfectly precise. It wouldn't hurt at all to get a second opinion. As a matter of fact, we encourage it if there is any doubt at all, or to just make inquiries.

How does this sound?
