Welcome @merlel, ALA is just one of many different supplements that have been shown to help with neuropathy. It may not work for everyone since neuropathy has many causes and something that helps some folks may not help others. Here are a lot more things to try:

John, you are right - In Jan 2021, with doctor approval, I started using ALA 600 mg in morning with no help. Around Sept 2021, I added 600 mg with dinner and still no help. In June 2022, stayed with 600 mg 2 X daily but switched over to the R-ALA. I still don't see any help. This supplement can help for some but not everyone. I guess you are correct, it depends on the cause of the PN. In early Jan 2023, I cut back to 600 mg daily, no effects. I'm going to discontinue and see what happens. If I see an increase in PN symptoms, I'll certainly return to my 1200 mg. daily.
