Does anyone have GI issues drinking caffeine. Or an overwhelming habit with coffee that is casusing GERD?

I realize that the doctors and the GI specialist do not recommend coffee or hot chocolate or even chocolate and red paste and I love spaghetti but I can't take the pasta because of my diabetes it just shoots me through the ceiling on my glucose level coffee is I can't give up the coffee because it helps me in the morning I have two generative discs I have sciatica I have nerve pain in my legs and hips and the coffee helps with that because of the caffeine being a painkiller and also it gives me a boost in the morning too I don't know what to do I sometimes it makes my stomach upset and I've been having a little bit of discomfort and below my belt area so I don't know what I'm going to do I keep praying everyday I wish I could quit but I haven't been able to yet I don't know what to replace it with I can't drink tea makes me sick at my stomach I also have neuropathy in my legs and especially in my feet I take 1800 mg of Gabapentin each day for that

I'm so sorry about all of your health problems. I have quite a few too. I have Discoid Lupus which affects my hair and scalp and I have a lot of back pain caused by wear and tear and arthritis all down my spine. I put my heat pad on as soon as I get up in the morning and then I make my one cup of coffee which I savor. I find that the LPR diet is very hard to keep to although I don't eat most of the bad things on the list.
I also went deaf overnight which I attribute to the LPR. I need to see the ENT Dr again.
Getting old sucks.
I just try to keep enjoying every day that I can. I think that having friends or family around helps. I don't have family nearby but I do have some great friends. It's good to laugh whenever you can and company certainly helps with that.
Have you tried the barley coffee? I have and I drank it for 6 weeks and I hate it. I have also tried the almond milk which I use on my grain cereal but I don't like it in my coffee.
Perhaps they will eventually come up with a good medication for LPR. Keep on trying.

I have gerd and got French Chicory and put a teaspoon of it in my refillable Pod coffee machine, it’s real smooth. I also got some Carob powder that is a chocolate replacement that I put in my cup. They don’t have the caffeine so I get to have a rich coffee replacement.

I switched to a low acid coffee due to GERD and gastritis. It’s called Lifeboost and can be ordered online - Lifeboost.com. They offer a variety of roasts and flavors, caffeinated or decaffeinated, whole beans or ground. It’s also very clean - free of toxins, bacteria and mold. There are other brands but I haven’t tried them - Purity and Fabula are two I’ve read about. Low acid coffee made a difference for me. Best of luck to you.

I have Gerd acid reflux and I take omeprazole they told me not to drink the chocolate or coffee but I still drink coffee to a three cups a day and I've been having some pain and my lower stomach it's very hard for me to start drinking coffee because I really addicted to it and it helps the stiffness in my back from degenerative disc and sciatica and I just wonder if anyone else has I know I've heard of keys and I've heard of chamomile and all these things but they don't help get me going in the morning they don't help with the stiffness and the achiness and the slight pain that time I'm just wondering if this pain in my stomach is from the coffee or caffeine or if it's something else

Try drinking 2 cups of low acid coffee (Healthwise) brand. I use almond milk as a creamer because it's alkaline and will neutralize any acid left in it. See if that helps.

Chocolate and caffeine loosen the sphincter, so the acid comes up the esophagus. There are some good decaf coffees - even though they have a small amount of caffeine it's still better than the full caffeine, and you can trick your body to enjoying that. (for example: lavazza decaf, made with water method so no chemicals to make it decaf). So the issue is not just that it's acidic but it loosens the sphincter. Try other things for the pain (medical marijuana? physiotherapy recommended exercises?)

I recommend ROMMA coffee from Amazon, no caffeine, vegan and it’s made with barley. Tastes just like regular coffee

Lifeboost is a low acid coffee I drink for GERD. I also drink Ryze. It’s a mushroom coffee with half the caffeine, has a chocolate taste, plus healthy for you due to the adaptogens from the mushrooms. I no longer experience GERD.
Hope this is helpful. Best to you. It’s a journey to find what works.
