Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

The co-payment program is through AMGEN Support. The phone # is 866- 264-2778. My MD enrolled me but I know you can enroll yourself. This Co-Payment works with both Evenity and Prolia. You have to be pro-active with not only your health but the cost of your treatments. Unfortunately having Osteoporosis is something we will be living with for the rest of our lives. I was diagnosed at 50 and I am now 61. I am lucky that I have had no fractures. I tried multiple medications in the past with no improvement. I have been off medication for 6 years.

Left femoral Hip T score is -3.4
Right femoral Hip T score -3.5
Spine T score -1.9

I'm back on Prolia - one injection every 6 months.

Garden of Life Dr Formulated Stronger Bones has calcium derived from eggshell powder.
5 capsules = 1300 mg calcium
I've never taken that particular product but the company has some nice formulas overall and seemsto be reputable. I have not taken an eggshell supplement as I just make my own powder when I want to take it. It's very easy to make, you just have to be judicious in dosing so as not to overdo your calcium intake.

Hi, I was recently dx with osteoporosis with a spinal T-score of -3.0; the recommended treatment is Evenity. I am concerned about the side effects and would prefer to try a more conservative approach for the next 10 months and have a bone density and labs repeated at the end of 2023. Does that make sense to those of you in a similar situation? I had a wrist fx in 2022 due to fall on ice which I don't necessarily view as related to the osteoporosis. I would appreciate any advice you have. This is a tougher decision than expected! Thanks

It’s scary to discover that you have osteoporosis but it’s important to take strong action as soon as possible. Evenity is new so doesn’t have a long history regarding side effects. That said, though I do not like getting these monthly injections I believe that this bone building treatment is best. Also, to further help your condition severely limit alcohol intake and do daily weight bearing exercises. Good luck

It really is a tough decision that many of us struggle with so I completely understand your hesitation and concern.
My bone loss was all in my spine and I did not want to take medication, believing that I could improve my bone density naturally with greater attention to my health. My diet was already extremely healthy and I exercised daily but I thought I could increase my exercise and pay even greater attention to my diet to gain back some of my loss. During that time, I suffered tremendous bone loss. Biggest mistake of my life delaying medication.
We are all different but from my experience and everything I've read, you just can't build back bone after menopause without medication. I ultimately chose to go on Forteo since it predominantly builds the spine and I had some increase in density. Not as much as I had hoped but at least their was gain and not continued loss. I had no side effects. The best part of being on it was that for 2 years, I didn't think about or constantly worry about my bones. That in itself was a great relief.

That is very helpful. I also eat very healthy and exercise 5-6 x week. I will take your experience to heart and reconsider my initial reluctance. I will also investigate Forteo since the spine is primarily where my bone loss is as well. Thanks so much for sharing.
