Ashwagandha

Has any one tried Ashwagandha? It comes in a powder or tablet form I believe. My daughter mentioned it so I googled it and found it there. It is suppose to aid in nerve healing.

Thank you Sue for the information. I don’t think many here are familiar with it as I have only heard from two people who are using it. I am on the regular drugs for neuropathy, Lyrica and Aventyl. Hope these ones are ok with it.

I take Gabapentin for neuropathy. Without the Gabapentin I would have severe pain that showed itself in various parts of my body. Numbness in toes, ankles and top of head.

I used to take it regularly, but then found out it can cause liver injury and affect thyroid hormone levels. I have hypothyroidism, and my levels sometimes go out of whack for no apparent reason, and it takes months to get everything back on track.

I still take it occasionally (GNC Ashwagandha Extract 470mg), but never for more than a few days in a row, with months in between.

Thank you so much for telling me about your thyroid. I, too, have thyroid issues and get it checked every three mos. It went out of whack when I had my surgery so I’m trying to get it stabilized now. I will certainly not be taking it now that’s for sure!

So on those days that you do take it, does it help you?

Yes, but not significantly.
