@scardycat, to directly answer your question on coping, I found that taking Aleve helped somewhat. Holding a cold drink in my left hand sometimes relieved the pain. I found myself often gently massaging my palm often gave me partial relief. Bottom line is that ultimately the pain became so severe and so constant that I was forced to go in for an injection, and my doctor told me the injection might not work long term.
