My dad had severe contractures of both hands. All his fingers dug into his palms. This was in 1971–1987. The hand surgeon said they could cut the tendons but the fingers wouldn’t be able to be used. He was able to cram a fork or spoon in between his fingers and palms so he could feed himself. Contractures are fairly common in Quadriplegia.

Developed this on my right hand. Could not place my hand flat on surface. My little finger was bent. Never painful but was advised to deal with it sooner than later since it would only worsen. Had surgery several years ago. Went well. Rehabilitation was challenging but not unreasonable - had to do several exercises while wound healed. Hand is 99%.
I have a mild case. What I do is stretch my fingers many times per day. I use “yoga hands” a device I bought on Amazon. It’s good I think because it allows the stretch to be very tight or whatever you are able to do. Search for “ finger separators for hands” and you’ll find LOTS. My father and brother had bad cases of Dupuytrens. I’m lucky to have only a mild case. I think the stretching helps
@scardycat, now that several weeks have passed since my injection, the pain is gone, and I can lay my hand totally flat. However, my ring finger is now a trigger finger. Wearing my wedding rings seems to make it worse. I will consult with my doctor in two weeks, and I suspect hand surgery to release that tendon is the next step.
