Hello @noelleklein, Here's some information from Mayo Clinic on Pleurisy:

Have you seen a doctor yet?
Hello. I have bouts occasionally that I’m told is pleurisy or a form of. It’s very painful when trying to breath and pressure builds in my chest cavity. It rarely happens but when it does it’s very scary. So
Show I have discovered that if I take a big drink of something (preferably carbonated) and force my self to belch it will usually relieve the pressure. I’ve taken antacids before with little to no help as well as that little pill for heart attacks thinking I was having one. I don’t recommend that as it gives you a headache if your not actually having an heartattack. I can’t say I’ve really discussed it with a doctor as it doesn’t occur often.
I hope you find some information and receive relief if this painful scary condition. I googled it and read up on it just for knowledge and in hopes of finding a sure fire cure for it when it does happen.
Good luck to you and if I can be of any help please don’t hesitate to let me know.
I had pleurisy many years ago in my late twenties/early thirties. I am 55 now. I will never forget it. I totally lost my voice and was coughing so hard I was scared that I would break a rib. I went to the ER and was told that indeed some people do break ribs from the condition. I caught it while driving for a transportation company. It was incredibly painful. I wish I could remember what prescriptions were given to me, if any, to get over it, but I do remember that it took several weeks. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
