fibro pain and brain fog increase by long covid?

Posted by mollymm @mollymm, Feb 9, 2023

I am really struggling with brain issues: short term memory, lack of organization skills, motivation. I had it under some control with just the fibromyalgia but now much increased. Any help??

Hey lovely,
I had Covid-19 (first strain) in Dec 2019 - and was incredibly unwell with the main symptoms for three months. I had Fibromyalgia too at this point, and it worsened to the point I couldn't work or live a 'normal' life. After a couple years of severe brain fog, increased chronic pain and more frequently even daily flare-ups and lots of medication examinations, my Fibromyalgia has settled down again and is more manageable again. So my answer is - increase of self-care and wellbeing for managing Fibromyalgia e.g. Muscle manipulation with a physiotherapist, massages when you can, gentle regular yoga with pilates (starting off just 5 mins a day moving up to 30 mins). Eating a FOD-Map diet, more protein and fiber. Less sugar and dairy. More community support, keep in touch with friends who have an understanding of your Fibro, attend support groups where you can (online). Increase of Magnesium helped and Zinc too. Acupunture (Ear acupuncture) really helped with the pain and fibro fog too. Basically, increase your self-care practices for managing Fibro and Time. It takes time, everybody is different, but I hope it shifts for you soon and swiftly. Sending a lot of healing vibes from a fellow Fibro warrior who has survived long Covid 🙂

I also thought got covid about that time or Jan 2020 right after a kidney stone surgery. I didn't understand it then and my doctor did not do a test and since I thought I had it and my fibro(2010) didn't believe could got it and didn't get any shots for covid(still have not). Well Aug. 20,2022 had a positive test and if felt like the other events had. Needless to say still not back to work-SOB and daily headaches mostly. Not getting doctors to help or understand. Hugs to you.

Hi. I think all of the suggestions catalina have, are worthy of thought. Do you take a good multivitamin and probiotic every day? Magnesium powder mixed into water at bedtime [product is called Calm], helps my muscles relax. There is some great help to be had, for free, is an app called The Tapping Solution. The author has had a NYTimes best selling book by that name also. His name is Nick Ortner. EFT tapping helps the mind cope better with stress, pain, anxiety. I use this at night to ease into sleep. It has changed the lives of many chronic pain patients, myself included. It does NOT make the pain disappear. But it is backed by years of scientific studies. Google The Tapping Solution. I am not on the payroll!
