Nerve pain through elbows into hands.

Posted by saf @saf, Feb 8, 2023

I had a shoulder surgery and within days experienced severe nerve pain in my elbows and hands. Then I had surgeries on both elbows to relieve some of the pain. Then I had three trigger finger releases to no help. Then I had surgery on my neck C6 & C7 fused and pinched nerve release that did nothing for the nerve pain and damage. I have been prescribed, Gabapentin, Pregabalin and Prednisone and nothing has helped. I have seen several doctors and none of them can figure this out and I don't know where to turn.

Hello @saf, Welcome to Connect. I'm sorry to hear that after all of the surgeries it hasn't helped with the nerve pain. Were the elbow surgeries to relieve ulnar nerve pain? Have you thought about seeking a second opinion or help at a teaching hospital or major health facility like Mayo Clinic?

Yes, the elbow surgeries were to relieve the ulnar nerve. I have had opinions from Nerve Specialists at Ortho AZ, Barrows and different pain centers. None of them could help me at all. The neck surgery was performed to help with the ulnar nerve as well and it did not help.

No, I have not heard of this option. I am looking into this.
Thank you,

It looks like you live in the Arizona area, If it were me, I would go to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. An alternative is, like John wrote, a teaching hospital. Those are usually found in a university setting. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain from a respected second opinion.
