Hay fellow MAC travellor! I have been on clofazimine for several years. The side affects were skin "tanning" and I do have blotches of darker skin like freckles, but lots larger on my legs. Seems like it happened in the summer where my skin usually wasn't exposed the rest of the year. Doctor's say it may take a few years, but should go away.
I still took the Big three, but took the Clofazimine away from the other meds and with a meal. Otherwise, it went well.
The IV amikacin for me was pre and post-op for two months. I went three times a week for infusion, but some people do it at home by themselves after training. Then a nurse checks it every week to clean and change the dressing. I had issues with the PICC line getting clogged up and irritation at the insertion site. The placement of the PICC line wasn't as bad as what I thought it would be. The clogging wasn't until I was close to being done. I do have to say, I think because of the insertion site irritation, I got phantum pains...It's been over a year and I still occassionally get them.
Fatigue was the biggest thing and with all the other meds loose stools. But it was do-able. One has to do what they have to do, right? I hope this was helpful for you!
