I don’t remember why I didn’t have a manipulation back 15 years ago but when I went back for my one year checkup he wanted me to go through 6 more weeks of rehab. I’m a Vietnam Vet and the 6 weeks of rehab was worse pain. A friend of mine who was once a PTA had TKR and just couldn’t get the bend he wanted. He said it was the best thing he has ever done. I’m stuck with a knee that won’t bend enough for me to drive our gator, sit in the stands at a basketball game without being in terrible pain even get up from a chair without pushing off. Oh how I wish I had been put to sleep and not followed the Surgeon’s thought I could break the scar tissue loose myself.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you by any chance remember what your ROM was when you decided not to do the manipulation?

Bummer Craig, I'm sorry. I've never heard of doing rehab at one year. I'd check with another surgeon and see if a redo is possible. I know you don't want that, but you should be able to easily do the things you describe after TKR.

FWIW my surgeon used the Mako robotic assistant. I got my legs in shape pre-surgery and did all the post-op exercises.

All the best to you.
