Newly diagnosed with lots of questions
Newly diagnosed (3 days) and new to Mayo (1 day).
Diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma/Grade 2/Score 6/ER/PR+ HER2/Neu-
Metastatic carcinoma lymph node right axilla.
Looking for what questions to ask as I start this journey. First appointment is with a nurse then 3 weeks until an official Mayo visit. Can anyone share the process on how long it would be before surgery? I am anxious to get this lump removed and next steps.
Please share questions, experiences with a similar diagnosis. Any information you can share would be helpful.
Thank you

@journey99 I apologize for the typo in my previous response. I wonder if you are still around and could clarify your original post, so we could be more helpful. Have you had an Oncotype from biopsy? Is that the "score" you mentioned?
And how do you know you have a metastatic lymph node, before surgery?
Hoping we can help you, after more info!
I was diagnosed in November 2022. Invasive ductile breast cancer. Stage 1a, Estrogen & Progesterone positive, HEr2-, 4 mm tumor with 8 mm margins and negative node involvement. The decision on the type of surgery was not an easy one for me. I was very concerned about the potential damage to my lungs, voicing my concerns during a conference call with my surgical oncologist and pulmonologist. I asked to meet with the radiation oncologist before I made the final decision. That meeting was so very helpful. She was so understanding and explained how the radiation treatment can be done. When I left, I felt like I was back in the driver seat of my care. I had my "mapping" and tattoo on 1/13. I also had the images done while using the deep inhalation breath hold method, which helps to move the lungs away from the breast. My radiation treatments begin on 1/30.
Unfortunately, I was denied an appointment at Mayo. Just when you think you have it all figured out...you begin again. Good luck with your treatment.
I am thinking about you and hoping all is well after radiation. How are you doing?
Doing well. Skin held up well. Next hurdle - hormone blockers.
