Mayo Clinic Rochester MN: Where to Stay? Shuttles? Parking?
I will be coming to Mayo Jan 23 for my initial eval. Right now I'm booked at Brentwood Inn, which allows cancelation day of by noon, should I not need the full reservation. Of course as new patients we're told we can be at Mayo anywhere up to 5-7 business days. However, I've since started looking at other hotels, with more amenities. Staybridge Suites is 3.5 miles away. Bigger rooms, bedroom, a living area and full kitchen, indoor pool and whirlpool. They also have a free shuttle to/from Mayo, if needed, tho I will have a car anyway. The immediate area around the hotel looks like there's restaurants etc also.
Has anyone stayed here? Your thoughts if so. Do you think it's an issue to drive to/from for appts / tests etc? What is parking like at Mayo? Easy to find? Convenient? Any parking fees?
Any info about Staybridge or if there are other hotels with indoor pool/ hot tub closer that you'd recommend, that would be appreciated! thanks much and happy new year!

Like @laurie said Rochester does have a hockey team, the Grizzlies, in the North American 3 Hockey League. They play here against St Louis today and Saturday but then they go to Milwaukee next weekend and Peoria the weekend after that.
Probably best to check out the high school teams. There is also a LOT of youth hockey going on all the time if that interests you.
@mugs24cancer - good to hear - they told me parking was free for Mayo patients! we'll see!!
@roch thanks Lauri- that is very helpful!!
Best not to take a car there. I felt no need for one and can not answer your car question. Ask Mayo.
Following Mayo’s own travel advisor ($25 fee) I stayed in Double Tree Hotel on Concierge floor. Can walk through interesting art-filled passage ways to appointments or be driven to front door of the Ghonda (or is it Gonda) building.
Marriott Hotel is even closer. Or volunteers will take you via wheel chair. Hotels can order cars to take you. Mayo is a very efficiently run place. Parking structures I saw were not close.
Having had 5 extended stays in Rochester, there is only one place to stay: the Aspen Suites. Inexpensive, 10 blocks to Mayo Clinic, huge suites with full kitchens, free breakfast and light supper, free shuttles to Mayo. And next door to Canadian Honker to boot!
Lindsey, you have changed my mind! My single time at Rochester Mayo was pre-covid. I think nowadays I would prefer your Aspen Suites because it is safer against covid exposure to have a private kitchen than take a chance dining together with unmasked others. It’s a different era now and survival favors adapting to ongoing pandemic necessities.
The past three years my adaptation has kept me from any travel, not even half way across the country to Mayo. Restaurant meals, if any, are picked up for dining at home. Several of my friends have friends who now have covid. For those who have better immunity and can dare to do it…..I wish you happy travels and best possible good health.
Contact the Mayo Clinic Concierge.
They will book Plane Tickets for you, so if there is a delay or flight cancelation, because you are a Mayo Clinic patient and booked through the Mayo Clinic concierge they will process any flight changes on your behalf and you get priority for seating on your way for appt.
Also the concierge will set up a shuttle to pick you up at the airport and bring you back and they will book your hotel withinin walking distance of the hospital. No need to rent a car and these hotels have underground walk ways to the hospital so no need to go outside if inclement weather. This all works like a machine, quite flawlessly and extroidinary.
All handled for my appointment in 2019.
Best of Luck.
Staying at Staybridge Suites Mayo. Can you please suggest a great Mexican restaurant that delivers as I assume there isn’t one near the hotel. Thx!
@summerof42, Have you inquired when making a reservation about meal delivery options?
I always find the staff at the lodging can suggest places.
