I had SEVERE leg cramping and "zappers" with my second TKR. I communicated this to my nurse navigator and surgeon. My gabapentin was increased to 3x day and a muscle relaxer added along with continued PT, mild walking and icing/elevating. This made sleep and comfort manageable. After 3 months post surgery, the cramps have subsided. My surgeon said this type of cramping is not uncommon. Keep communicating with your surgical team. All the best for an improvement in your situation.

Thanks, I will. I did send them a message yesterday and have not heard anything back. I am 3 months out and since stopping PT a few weeks ago things have I feel gone downhill but they said I was ready to be on my own. Maybe I push myself too much...I walk 4-5000 steps a day doing just daily things like grocery shopping, cleaning the house etc... I don't feel the cramping until I sit down or am in bed. I ice off and off through the night and last night was up to the bathroom every 90 minutes or so. Where is all the coming from? I take my muscle relaxer at bedtime as it makes me way to sleepy during the day but it seems after 600mg of Gabapentin and a 4 mg Tizanadine (muscle relaxer) at bedtime I still could to sleep and I was doing well in PT. Tired but can't sleep.
