Layperson response.
Mixed bag: RP recovery excellent; surgical margins clear; lymph nodes & seminal vesicles clear; surgeon optimistic.
Unfortunately, postop pathology reported Gleason grade 9; extra prostatic extension (EPE), which I understand as cancer cells outside prostate but within surgical margins, indicating aggressive cancer characteristics.
1st 90 day PSA a very disappointing 0.19 (repeated 0.18).
Rad Onc recommended radiation to pelvic floor (38 txs) and 4 mos hormone therapy. Begin tomorrow with Orgovyx. Radiation next Friday.
However, 2 friends with 7s doing great post RP w/ PSAs below 0.1.
Hopefully difference is aggressive nature of my cancer vs theirs, and hopefully your🤞🙏
Best wishes.
Thanks so much for sharing your journey. This helps me assess my current situation and plan for the future.
Best of luck with your radiation therapy today, will keep you in my prayers!!
Take care,
Jim
