Anyone on Pluvicto (Lu 177), a new drug for prostate cancer?

My close friend has had Pluvecto treatment suggested to him by oncologists. It is relatively new, having been approved by the FDA in March 2022. Have any of you been given this drug? I have read it is radioactive material and patient needs to stay away 6 ft from others for at least 3 days so as not to contaminate them. He has not yet decided whether to take the treatment or not as he is feeling awful enough as is.

I just finished my 1 year anniversary after receiving 2 treatments of Lutetium PSMA in Germany. At 3 months, my PSA was non-detectable, at 1 year it is currently 0.09 and I am watch/wait. The only side effects have been a little dry mouth. The radiation seems to migrate to saliva glands in the mouth, and they take precautions to limit this, but that was the only issue I had. Every cancer case is different, I had Gleason scores of 9-10 in all prostrate biopsies, and had surgery to remove the prostrate which indicated it had spread outside the margins. A PSMA scan showed over 7 tumors in my lymph nodes. The scan 8 weeks after treatment showed no tumors. After surgery, this was my first course of treatment. I did not elect to try any others. I am looking for locations in the SE US that are now providing this treatment if I have to get a second round.

My husband received Pluvicto yesterday, with post treatment scan this morning. Top notch team here at Rochester Mayo. We could not be more impressed.
The rules and restrictions have eased somewhat; as safety monitoring has indicated that it is safe to do so.
Primarily, precautions need to be observed around pregnant women and children under 10.
Precautions continue with bodily fluids, closing toilet lid before flushing twice, etc.
It really isn’t inconvenient. At home, he will just use a different bathroom.
He tolerated it just fine, with no fatigue or other side effects at this point.
He is drinking copious quantities of water, as instructed.
We are very hopeful.

I have been going with my cousin to Pluvicto treatments. Apparently he is one of the first in South Carolina to get treatment. He had his 3rd treatment yesterday (11/3/22) and will be given a maximum of 6. His blood counts are holding up well so far. The blood counts are used to determine if he can move forward to further treatments. He is responding to the treatment. His PSA was at 1365 in mid August (high point before treatment) but has now dropped to 304 after the first 2 treatments. He had some pronounced side effects after the first treatment of being very tired and some confusion but only mild side effects after the 2nd treatment. He is feeling stronger and is walking and doing light exercise now.

Absolutely you will be able to drive him home.
My husband has had 4 treatments and tolerated them all just great! Best of luck!

I am not a doctor, however, my research tells me Lu 177 in only available for patients where the cancer has metastases throughout the body. i.e., after other procedures - surgery, hormone therapy, chemotherapy.

What is LU-177 PSMA therapy?
Lutetium-177 PSMA therapy, or lutetium-177 prostate specific membrane antigen therapy is a treatment for men with advanced prostate cancer. It is to be used predominantly when the disease has metastasized and other treatments have been poorly tolerated or failed.
